Our Story – The beginning
Our great-grandmother, and after her our grandmother, shaped intricate patterns entirely by hand. Their designs were folded into envelopes and sent by post to royal households and families who understood the difference between something manufactured and something made.
Why Femenya Exists
Finding a genuine handloom saree can mean travelling hundreds of kilometres, learning which lanes to walk down, and knowing enough to tell the real from the reproduced.
The Philosophy
This is our version of slow fashion. Not a trend, but a quiet refusal to treat clothing as disposable, to prize speed over skill, or to flatten a living tradition into a cheaper version of itself.
The Founders
Sudhakar and Pooja began with the memory of a grandmother and great-grandmother who spent their lives working thread by hand and treated craftsmanship as something close to a moral principle.
The creativity belongs to the weaver. Our part is to protect it, present it honestly, and see that it is valued.
